Do y'all know what palm oil is? Given the audience of this platform, if you do it's most likely as one of the many things that goes into cooking oil you'd buy from a store. Wikipedia:

"The oil is used in food manufacturing, in beauty products, and as biofuel. Palm oil accounted for about 33% of global oils produced from oil crops in 2014."

Multiple websites call it the most widely used vegetable oil in the world. The oil is made from the fruit of a plant native to West Africa (there's also oil palms from the amerikas). While people have used palm oil forever, though, to make as much as the global economy demands, you need plantations. & this article explains what happens when oil palm plantations are introduced into communities:

"Nützlich" ist ein soziales Netzwerk, wenn es im sozialen Kontext nicht schadet, sondern den Usern einen Mehrwert bieten kann. Das haut soweit schon mal nicht.

Wenn "nützlich" für die Welt da draußen "kommerzialisierbar" bedeutet, sind auch Reparaturcafés, Gebrauchtkäufe, der Klimaschutz, die Tafel und der Großteil der Open Source Welt nicht nützlich.

Dann halt eben ein Hoch auf die Unnützlichkeit. ;-)

Nur mit so einem "Grundbedürfnis" bzw. fehlgeleitetem Lebensziel kann ich mir erklären, warum sich heute immer noch Menschen SUVs kaufen, Klimaanlagen bei offenem Fenster betreiben oder sich fast ausgestorbenen Fisch auf den Teller haun.

Now there are concerns that the Tanzanian government is trying to force thousands of people from the land. The inhabitants are accusing the government of harassment and  placing restrictions on them - including the ban on crop cultivation and the limiting of access to rivers and rangelands for grazing their livestock. Protests against the government action was held in February 2022.

Interessant finde ich z.B. den Link zwischen einzelnen Grenzen und regionalen Veränderungen und den zusammenhang zu den Hauptverursachern.

Cool und was uns Hoffnung macht ist die Ozon Geschichte: Sie erzählt, dass die Gemeinschaft der Nationen es geschafft hat den Hauptverursacher der Ozonzerstörung (= FCKW) zu identifizieren und nachhaltig einzudämmen.

Ich würde mich ja jetzt sehr gerne an meine Liebste kuscheln und mit einem Hörbuch auf den Ohren einschlafen.

Da meine Liebste nicht da ist, muss ich zum ankuscheln wohl ein Kissen nehmen. Was ein ganz lächerlicher Ersatz ist. Hmpf.

@be @xerz especially because there haven't been any significant changed in hardware in the past 6 years (hell, the past 10 years). Sure, the cache sizes have got a bit larger and the number of cores has got twice as large (but only on desktops really), but it's all still fundamentally the same.

I'm writing this from my PC that I've used daily since very early 2013 and it works just as well as it did on day 1. The only thing I did was thing I did was throw in more ram, but I could've just as easily done it back in 2013 anyway, so that's not progress.

In fact, most of those restrictions are completely artificial anyway. There are 3rd-party programs that allow you to install the latest macOS on macs as old as _2008_ (provided you install a Metal-compatible CPU), or Windows 11 on anything as old as Core 2 Duo. It's the perfect example of artificial restrictions, the new features aren't (and won't be) used for anything except for forcing people who use older hardware to buy new one.

Hell, with these chip shortages going on (and probably continuing to go on for Years and Years), it's downright unethical to do.

Witzigerweise funktioniert das in der mittel- bis kleinstädtischen 🇺🇸 US-Region, in der ich z. Zt. unterwegs bin, sehr gut – und zwar auf quasi allen, ganz normalen Straßen. Das hat mehrere Gründe:

1. Es drohen _drakonische_ Strafen, wenn 🚗 🚴 mit weniger als 4 Fuß (1,22 m) seitlichem Abstand überholen. Da die wenigsten das abschätzen können, fahren praktisch alle zum Überholen auf die nächste Spur (bzw. auf die andere Straßenseite). Das geht 1/

Here, you write a message, it stays ignored for 1 or 2 years, and then all of a sudden, for no reason, with no explanation, someone finds it somehow, boosts it, and it gets 200 likes and 120 boosts.

What the fuck.

I'm sure someone will boost this message in 2021 or 2022.

beginn meiner symptome ist jetzt 3,5 wochen her, und ich bin wieder krankgeschrieben.

-konzentrationsprobleme
-irre schnell außer atem
-unfassbar müde (und zwar unerwartet, plötzlich und kaum aufzuhalten)

so kann ich nicht arbeiten. zwischendrin hab ich gedacht, das geht. war ne woche arbeiten. donnerstag ging dann nix mehr, das wochenende nur rumgelegen und gepennt, montag nochmal versucht und früher die begleitung abgebrochen.

konzentration:
geht streckenweise, aber danach ausgelutscht wie nach nem marathon.
plötzlich kommt dann so ne welle von nichts geht mehr. kann gedanken nicht halten, bzw. verzettel mich übelst.

kondition:
normalerweise bin ich jeden tag so 6-7h zu fuss unterwegs und reisse am tag zwischen 12 und 15km. davon kann keine rede sein. mal kurz einkaufen - platt!
mit der besten hündin der welt raus - platt!
hoch in den 4. stock - lasst mich einfach zurück!

atmung:
geht - meißtens. aber mal kurz angestrengt und ich fang an zu hecheln /1
